Hello, my name is Elia and I am LA Geek. Before I was a 'geek', I was a traditional artist, working mostly with oils and pastels. Then I met my Apple Macintosh computer and LA Geek was born. I soon learned HTML and the World Wide Web became my new canvas. That was back in 1996 and life has never been the same.
Prior to 1996, I was a struggling artist, trying to sell my paintings, while working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles. Click here to see some of the projects I've been involved with. Click here to see some of my paintings. My goal has always been to make a living doing what I love. You know, do what you love and the money will follow philosophy. Well, I wasn't having much success at selling my paintings, but I was successful at selling my services as a website designer after 1996. Click here to see some of my clients.
Why the LA Geek name? I love Los Angeles and I love using technology to create & showcase my artwork. Many of my heroes are the inventor/engineer/scientist/computer programmer types. You know, geeks! Well, I am a 'wanna' be geek and the internet provides an opportunity to share my passion for art & technology and the computer is an incredible tool that makes it all possible. Also, not very many people have heard the name Elia (Elia.net) and in the case-sensitive world of the internet, asking someone to remember my name, let alone remember how to spell my name just wasn't happening.
